players

Players don’t have accounts. When you join a room we store the display name and emoji you chose, and a random identifier for your device so a reload puts you back in your seat. We don’t ask for your email, and we don’t track you across sites.

hosts

Hosting needs an account. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which stores your email and password (or your Google sign-in). We store your email, display name, plan, and the rooms and games you’ve run.

what games store

Game content — answers you type, words you’re given, cards you hold — lives on our server for the length of the session, and in the recap afterwards. Private game data is only ever sent to the player it belongs to.

AI features

Some games can generate content with OpenAI. Display names and room codes are stripped before anything is sent, and OpenAI does not train on it. Every AI feature has a non-AI fallback, so you can play with them switched off.

who else sees your data

Clerk (accounts), Ably (live updates), Stripe (payments), Mailgun (email) and OpenAI (game content). Each sees only what it needs to do its job.

deleting things

You can delete your account from the account page, which removes your host record. Email hello@gamesfromhomes.com and we’ll remove anything else you ask us to.
